Language Interpreting Labs
Our interpreting training lab opened in September 2015, providing the tools for interpreting between Mandarin Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
With equipment matching that of the European Commission, the United Nations and the Houses of Parliament, our new lab has 10 booths to interpret conferences involving up to 20 people.
As well as this new lab, we also have LTB 6, a conference facility for up to 350 people with simultaneous interpreting booths, to interpret live conferences and lectures. Both facilities are unique to the East of England.
For interpreting all over the world, we also have mobile equipment available to use for both indoor and outdoor use.
If you are a local SME, or a local or national government organisations needing interpreting services, or if you’d like to use the lab to host international or multi-lingual conferences and trade shows, contact Dr Dorian Hayes (Knowledge Exchange Manager, Faculty of Social Sciences) at email@example.com.
We are the only university in the UK to provide translation, interpreting and subtitling training covering a number of languages, and our Department of Language and Linguistics was recently ranked top 10 in the UK for research quality (REF 2014).
