The four-star Wivenhoe House is set in glorious parkland at our Colchester Campus and offers a high-class venue for events, meetings and leisure.
For corporate and business events, we offer the Boardroom, which can seat 12, to the Garden Suite, comprising three rooms with removable partitioned walls and accommodating a maximum of 160 seated guests or 250 for a standing reception.
Event Essex also offer a variety of standard and bespoke catering packages for events and conferences. Their experienced team of chefs are able cater for a wide range of dietary requirements, including: vegetarian; vegan; halal; gluten-free; dairy-free.
The space offers two high-quality TV studios and adjacent control galleries with high definition equipment, alongside a new Media Lab with 12 professional state-of-the-art video editing stations, four viewing stations, and a group viewing area.
There is also a new 12-seat IT training room, a video-conferencing suite, a new 25-seat teaching PC lab and a new 32-seat PC lab with cluster tables and extensive writing surfaces.

We have a wide range of both indoor and outdoor facilities. The outdoor sport area at our Colchester Campus covers 40 acres and includes various sports pitches, courts and an 18-hole disc golf course.
At our Southend and Loughton Campuses you can access a number of sports facilities too including Evolve gym located at our University Square residences.
Lakeside Theatre, Colchester Campus
Our beautiful 200-seat Lakeside Theatre is located on our Colchester Campus on the ground floor of the iconic Albert Sloman Library.
The theatre was fully refurbished in 2010, and offers a broad programme of theatrical productions throughout the academic year. It is also available to hire.

Our magnificent Clifftown Theatre, at our Southend Campus, was built in 1865 as Clifftown United Reformed Church.
It was purchased by the University in 2008 and transformed into a stunning state-of-the-art theatre and performance space for our world-renowned East 15 Acting School.
Alongside offering a diverse range of productions and workshops, all theatre spaces are available to hire, with professional technical support available from our theatre management team.
